HOW TO MAKE MONEY PAINTING AT EVENTS, written by artists' advocate and agent, Maria Brophy, contains true “insider secrets” equipping artists with step-by-step instructions on how to make money painting live at events. Using the details in this book, any artist can start earning money from this method today!
It’s a secret that many artists won’t tell you: You can get paid to paint at corporate parties, while promoting your work!
Did you know that Fortune 500 companies hold annual corporate meetings at posh hotels all over the country, and that they pay planning organizations big bucks to put on an exciting party for them?! Included in the entertainment often is an artist, who arrives with their canvas and easel and paints the entire time, as an added entertainment for the guests.
That Artist is getting PAID to do that!
There are many different types of artists that are hired for these events. Airbrush, oil painters, glass blowers, sculptors, caricature artists and even sand sculpture artists.
You could be one of them!
Last summer Drew Brophy was hired to paint a surfboard at a five star hotel in Laguna Beach, California. The planner had set up a tropical theme for the party, and a surfboard artist was a perfect fit. Drew had no idea who this party was for, but later he could brag about the famous clientele who was there.
For three hours he painted while talking to guests at the party. Though he wasn’t a football fan, even he was impressed by the attendees – in one room almost every single owner of the various National Football League teams was gathered! Alongside them were some of the most famous football players in the Nation.
The best part was this: Drew was paid well for doing what he loves to do; paint surfboards. And he gained a few new fans that night, too.
Maria says: I wrote this book to help artists ACTUALLY make money doing what they love. That's my promise to you; these tips will earn you money now, not sometime later far in the future.
Nothing makes me more cross than an empty promise.
After having read dozens of books on art marketing, I was greatly disappointed. Many promise that you’ll prosper as an artist after reading their book.
What a load of you-know-what! Most of these books teach you “how to get into galleries” (not much money to be made there), or “how to get a grant” (how do you support a family on grant money?) or “how to market yourself.”
Did you know that 99% of art business books lack information on the one, most important thing that all artists want to know?
HOW DO I ACTUALLY MAKE MONEY $$$ WITH MY ART?!!!
Forget mailing lists, social media and networking. Forget all that you’ve been told about getting into galleries or grants.
If you want to generate money from your art, one way is to paint at events. It doesn’t matter if you have never won awards or been in an art gallery. You don’t even have to have gone to art school.
All you need to know how to do is paint, sculpt, create, blow glass, etc., and you can earn money RIGHT NOW. Not next year, not in five years, not after winning awards. But now!
And you don’t even have to be that gifted. You just have to know how it all works so you can get in on the action.
There are many ways to make money as an artist. This is one of them. I know, because I married a man who has been a professional artist for over 20 years. He never went to college and never won an official award for his art. But he gets paid more by being an artitst than most New York uppity gallery-artists, and he's paid well enough to support a family of three in one of the most expensive places to live in America.
How? By having many streams of paying income from his art. And one of those streams of income comes from live painting at events. We earn anywhere from $1,500 to $2,500 for Drew to paint in one evening while mingling with the rich and famous. Yes, that’s right!
When we discovered that you could earn that much money so easily, we were hooked. Live event painting became one of our streams of income that has enabled us to continue to live the good life.
In this e-book, I share with you the following insider secrets to getting paid to paint at live events:
- How much money you can make, for real $$$
- Why you get to keep the original artwork that you paint at the event, even though you were paid to do it (and how to make more $ from selling the original)
- How the event business works with regards to hiring artists
- How to create a winning marketing piece
- Who to contact; companies that will hire you and how to find them (this is what took me years to learn!)
- How to sell your services to the right people – how to get the deal!
- Important dos and don’ts before, during and after the event so that you are hired back again and again
- What to expect with regards to deposits and final payment
- Agreement/contract language that you can use for yourself (this alone is worth more than the cost of the book!)
You may wonder why this book costs what it does instead of $19 or $29. For one reason, it took years for me to learn this. I spent countless hours talking to meeting managers and actually being out in the field with my husband, taking notes on how to do it best. It wouldn’t be fair to give it away. Just as your art is valuable, my information is valuable.
But, the more important reason that it's priced the way it is: because I only want serious artists to purchase this book. A committed entrepreneur invests in their career. Someone who is willing to invest in themselves is one who will take the information and use it and prosper from it. The price keeps the non-committed tire-kickers from competing with the rest of us in this business!
My Promise to you: If you follow the instructions in the book, you will learn how the business works, who to contact, how to find the right companies to connect with, and you will book yourself a live painting event where you’ll be paid $600 or more for one evening of work. With just one booking, you will earn back the money you spend on this book x 10!
Helped me with my first EVENT! Thank you!

I put your Event Painter book to work on Saturday at an outdoor lakeside wedding with my watercolors. Loved the conversation hints on how to engage the guests with questions. It helped put me and them at ease. Since it was my first time, I relied on that quite a bit. Also, took blank greeting cards of one of my paintings to hand out but got so busy, I forgot to offer them. At the end, I left them with the father of the bride to give the attendees.
Another exercise that helped, was doing a "dry run" of my painting set up. Every thing was laid out as if I was already there. I could see if any items were missing; going so far as to the sprinkling the umbrella with the hose to make sure it was waterproof and provide safe cover in case of the predicted mountain showers. I was prepared!
The wedding party and guests loved watching the painting as it progressed. I finished it with framing and delivery this morning.
Thank you again for writing the book! It offers me another way to uniquely serve more clients and create greater art income. Grateful for that!
I made $1,000 at my first live painting event, thanks Maria!

Thanks Maria for this ebook!
I did a live painting at a fundraiser last weekend that went very well, I also picked up two more painting commissions and one other live fundraiser! I made $1,000 for the night from 6:30 til 9:00 and free food and drinks and met over 200 people and saw the live auction on my piece. All in all a very fun and profitable night! Thanks!

I think because of all the great advice that you always offer for free. I expected more for the payed for advice. It's cool do... You have been a great help in guiding me to accomplishing my goals. Can't thank you enough!
I've been doing this for years, but learned a lot of new tricks from this eBook!

I have been live painting at events for a few years now. There is always room to improve and show your client that you are always at your best.
With Maria's book, she describes from start to finish what to do to start or expand and what is expected from clients.
There are many things I learned that I could be doing better to make my clients happier. It is great for both beginners and also artists that have a history with painting for a crowd. Easy to follow even though there is so much valuable information.
Worth every penny even for established artists

I've already been painting live for several years, but had little knowledge on really monetizing the work itself or acquiring more opportunities. This was the best purchase I've made this year. Everything Maria points out is step-by-step along with tips on pitching the idea to venues and event planners. It's a great foundation for beginning artists early on in their career to help establish a reputation for their work just as well for the established artist that is ready to start investing in their business and monetizing on their growing fanbase.
Small book with a lot of great info

At first I thought this ebook was small, but after reading, realized that it has info that I didn't know about. The most helpful to me was finding out WHO did the hiring of artist for events.
I've taken the first step in the book - compiled a "hit list" and now I'm working on my brochure. I expect to get my first paid painting event in time for summer.
Thanks for the great info!
