Drew's "Sunrise" lithograph print is 24"x18" and highly suitable for framing.
SUNRISE is one of Drew's most popular paintings.
Drew painted the original SUNRISE painting in 2006, after a memorable surf trip to South Africa. It has become one of Drew's most loved images. In just ten years, this painting has become so popular, people all over the globe have re-created it on dozens of wall murals all over the world.
Some people see a "cross" in the painting and sense a spiritual aspect to it. Others get a feeling of joy and solitude in nature when viewing it. Maybe it's a little of both. What do you think?
Drew has a very strong memory of the exact moment that this painting was inspired, and he describes it, below:
"During a trip to South Africa, on the beautiful beach of Jeffery’s Bay, where the ocean is full of life and the waves seem to peel forever, I was inspired to paint the sunrise.
One morning before dawn, after the coldest night of the year, I awoke to be the first to ride one of these magical waves. Standing in the dark, shivering in my wet-suit, I used my surfboard to block the icy winds. The crashing waves kept me company but I could not see them in the darkness. Above me, millions of stars illustrated the vastness of the universe.
As my mind began to wander, I felt cold and alone, as if I was nowhere in time or space, just another soul or spec of light in the night sky so far from each other.
Finally a tiny faint glow in the distance caught my eye, it steadily grew larger with every second and in a sudden burst, a tremendous wave of light raced across the sky. In a fraction of second it erased the darkness and the millions of stars. I instantly felt the warmth of the light as the wave illuminated me. I embraced it and basked in it, it felt like God’s warm hands on my face.
I was no longer alone, a new day had been born, the endless waves and our beautiful world came into view. This is our true gift, every single day." Drew Brophy
Drew has always said that he wants his art to be affordable for anyone who wants it. These artist prints are a great way to get Drew Brophy's art on your walls without breaking the bank! This print is an open-edition, superior quality and ready to frame.

I recently purchased a bottle from mywatergallery.com with "Sunrise" on it. Every time I would look at this piece, I saw/see it in a different way - truly dependent on my mood. Sometimes the sun stands out, sometimes the surfer, and at other times I see a cross. I think it is a very powerful piece and will continue to be so. Thanks, Drew! You inspire me in my Studio daily now. :)

Great, beautiful photo BUT when shipped they put in an artist info card which was stuffed and ripped photo in multiple places on bottom due to it being rolled. Was able to cover with a mat. Should be more careful

I bought this as a gift for a friend. It's such a gorgeous lithograph with amazing bright colors that embraces everything I think of when I think of the ocean and the peace that goes along with it! I got to see it before it was given to him:)
I had a few shipping problems as well and Maria was amazing in getting everything taken care of for me. I work in Customer Service so for me, that goes a long way! Thanks again Maria. Love your work Drew!
Bigger poster print please!
Posted by Guy who can't afford a $595 print on 27th Aug 2012
This is just the most awesome picture and I would love to have a 36" x 48" print of this on my wall to wake up to in the mornings. But to do so would take up all the money I've been saving for a surfboard, and that would be counter-productive.
PLEASE, can you make a larger version of this print available?
