I zipped through this as soon as it was delivered. Drew's story really gave me hope that it is still possible to pursue an "impossible" dream and overcome the odds if you're willing to believe in yourself and put in the work to make it happen. The book certainly lifted my spirits and gave me fuel to keep creating. I'd recommend it to anyone that's striving to create a life that may not fit in society's typical box.
You are a true survivor!

I want to thank you for signing our book. I couldn't wait to sit down and read it. Man....when you hear the term "starving artist" they were talking about you for sure. You my friend are a true survivor. With only $1.40 to your name and literally no friends or family I felt your pain as I was reading and choked up. And then to ride a bike 7 miles each way to work everyday is amazing. It was written very well without a bunch of big fancy words and I read most of it out loud to my wife. Was hoping to see them Grand Canyon SUP pics but maybe in the next book. The explanations of the pictures was cool and really helps to understand. The closing story about the painting of your dad, you and your son is a great ending. I have so much respect for you and Maria. This book inspires me to quit thinking about things I want to do and get to doing it. I am proud to call you and your family my friends. Take care.

Drew and Maria Brophy have put together a book about their dreams and teamwork to get there that is visually eye-popping and inspirational. Drew's story carries a message of hope for artists that dream of making a living in the arts, and reveals that there is no such thing as failure when one is focused on success. Interesting behind the scenes anecdotes and drawings with a volume of full-color "Life Is Good" paintings. An energetic read about a passionate artist and his art.
