All of Drew's paintings are inspired by the life he observes.  In this painting, the character Larry is inspired by Drew's real life neighbor, also named Larry, who tends to his garden daily.  Larry has a green thumb and can grow anything.  He wears his straw hat to shield from the California sun as he cares for his plants and flowers, always in his overalls!

Originally painted in 2018 as part of the "Mother Earth" Series of illustrations for Mother Earth products.  It is one of many paintings in the series.
